Blended from traditional Bordeaux grape varieties, matured in French oak casks, yielding a full flavoured, yet elegant red wine with red fruits, spice and a fresh acidity to finish. Flavours of strawberries, dark herbs and cassis with a medium body made for early and easy drinking enjoyment.

A warm and dry spring got things off to a great start in 2013 resulting in good fruit set and crop levels. At times the growing season was up and down with plenty of rainfall in December but becoming dry and settled by mid-January. Fortunately, April was settled and warm and it allowed the grapes to fully ripen with full of flavour and concentration. For those who did not crop thin however, it was a challenging vintage. At Te Motu we cut back crop early and late. As a result, the fruit we picked early – mid April was in magnificent condition. A vintage that not only shows well in youth, but will age well for at least 7 years.
