Te Motu 2012

$185.00

A gorgeous Old World-inspired cabernet, merlot and cabernet franc blend; the fragrant bouquet shows cassis, dark plum, vanilla and toasted nut characters with nuances of black tea, leather and dried herb notes.

Tasting Notes

The palate is beautifully weighted and rounded, and offers excellent fruit richness as well as seductive savoury, spicy complexity. This is elegant and gentle, yet persistent and powerful to the finish.

Vintage Notes

2012 was a mild to hot summer and was described by John and other winemakers on the island as a typical Bordeaux type season. The fruit ripened steadily and evenly with sugars, acids, pH and phenolics at nice balanced levels. There was some rain late season but lucky enough for us it had little impact as it came immediately after we had harvested our Merlot and 2 weeks prior to harvesting our Cabernets. Thus allowing great concentration in each varietal.
