Te Motu 2020

$155.00

Our new release, from a vintage like no other.

3850 bottle production.

_

The flagship wine of our Waiheke Island vineyard, Te Motu is a Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend with Merlot, Franc and Malbec, hand harvested from low-yielding vines.

The wine enjoys extended élevage and maturing in premium French oak before beginning a minimum 3 year term resting in bottle. On release, the wine shows elegance, complexity and firm yet supple tannins – the hallmarks of its longevity – and will continue to reward cellaring.

Critic Reviews

Very pretty polish and depth to this Bordeaux blend. It’s medium- to full-bodied with creamy and round tannins that give form and length. Blackberry, blackcurrant and dark chocolate character. Lasts for minutes on the finish. Delicious now, but better in three or four years.

Vintage Notes

Vintage Notes

A dream Waiheke vintage.

As we picked throughout lockdown, we were grateful to find pristine, clean, ripe, concentrated fruit across the board.
Minimal sorting was needed – infact, in most blocks the fruit was perfect enough to ‘pick-and-drop’.

The pandemic provided challenges but we were able to complete the harvest safely with just the core vineyard crew due to perfect conditions.

We had no rain pressure through vintage. We were able to pick when we wanted, allowing each of our red wine varieties to ripen to optimal levels.

All fruit was pristine but some exposed blocks were down in volume due to high winds impacting flowering in spring.
