The flagship wine of our Waiheke Island vineyard, Te Motu is a Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend with Merlot and Franc, hand harvested from low-yielding vines.
The wine enjoys extended élevage and maturing in premium French oak before beginning a minimum 3 year term resting in bottle. On release, the wine shows elegance, complexity and firm yet supple tannins – the hallmarks of its longevity – and will continue to reward cellaring.

2019: A dream Waiheke vintage.
Spring weather conditions were mild allowing an even fruit set and a sizeable crop. From there the summer of ‘19 set in. Hot dry sunny days turned into hot dry sunny weeks and months, leading to a vintage where each parcel of fruit achieved optimal ripeness.
Following our family recipe this flagship blend of our best Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec fruit spent two years of extended élevage in French oak before bottling.
4400 bottles produced
2009: The growing season was a little cooler than the previous 2008 season. This however did not affect fruit ripening. The 2009 season started and finished great with only some unwanted wind at flowering which affected our overall yield.
Vintage began on 31st March then kicked off in full swing on the 6th April for the next two weeks bringing in our Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon respectively. Staying true to our Te Motu style, each parcel of our four Bordeaux varietals were hand harvested, processed, fermented and put to barrel separately. In February 2010 blending trials were conducted and blends made.
