From a classic Waiheke Island vintage.
_
The flagship wine of our Waiheke Island vineyard, Te Motu is a Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend with Merlot and Franc, hand harvested from low-yielding vines.
The wine enjoys extended élevage and maturing in premium French oak before beginning a minimum 3 year term resting in bottle. On release, the wine shows elegance, complexity and firm yet supple tannins – the hallmarks of its longevity – and will continue to reward cellaring.

A flagship cabernet sauvignon-dominant blend with merlot and cabernet franc. Sleek, seamless and very elegant red with cedar, dark berry, tobacco leaf, new leather and dried herb flavours. A youthful wine with obvious cellaring potential 03 MAY 2020

This new release wine from the Te Motu stable – is their flagship wine – a blended red emulating the best of Bordeaux with a totally New Zealand and Auckland story. Aromas an flavours of dark berries and pencil lead, roasted plums and clove, violets and smoke. Dry, weighty, fresh, youthful and earthy with flavours of dark berries and clay, violets and plums, wood-smoke and dark spices. Tannins are firm, remain youthful and are beginning to integrate well, acidity is medium+, contrasts the fruit and earth flavours adding a crunch to mid and back palate. A lovely wine that requires decanting for service and should be paired with a simple cheese-board. Best drinking from today and through 2028++.

2015 was a great vintage here in the valley, though cool conditions through spring flowering did thin our volumes, the remaining fruit that developed through the long hot summer was beautifully concentrated.
Following our family recipe this flagship blend of our best Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec fruit spent two years of extended élevage in French oak before bottling in 2017.
Less than 450 cases were produced from this vintage.
