The Shed is a kiwi institution, a place of shelter, a feeling of being at home. When the Dunleavy family decided to open a vineyard restaurant to host guests, they converted the old vineyard shed into a casual, friendly dining space to epitomize that sense of comfort when dining among friends and family.
Our expression of Rosé, reminiscent of the Dry Provence style, is made from 100% Merlot grapes grown in a beautiful sun-drenched vineyard in Awaawaroa Bay, near the eastern end of Waiheke Island.

“a delicious, fresh and ripe fruited bouquet packed with strawberries and red plums, a touch of cherry and lots of rose and blossom scents. Crisp, youthful, dry and textured. Flavours mirror the nose with a core of fruit contrasted by acidity and fine fruit tannins. Drinking well now and perhaps best enjoyed alongside food. Enjoy from 2021 through 2023”.

Charming and elegantly fragrant on the nose showing apricot, raspberry, crunchy apple and subtle spice notes. The palate delivers bright fruit flavours together with fine texture and zesty acidity, finishing long and delightfully dry. At its best: now to 2023.

Despite the turbulent year globally, 2020 is down in the books as one of Waiheke’s finest vintages with pristine, clean ripe, concentrated fruit picked at all our vineyard sites.
Thankfully due to great weather conditions in the lead up and throughout vintage, what we wanted, when we wanted, even when the country going in to lockdown became an issue.
The Merlot for our rosé was our first pick of the season, with the first press on the 6th of March.
